The Black Ferns 7s team started their Olympic gold defence campaign on a high after thrashing China 45-5 in their first pool match this morning.
The Black Ferns scored seven tries compared to China, scoring only once.
Michaela Blyde scored four tries, Stacey Waaka scored a double, and Sarah Hirini scored once.
The match was dominated throughout by New Zealand as they aim to defend their title again in Paris.
New Zealand's next match will be against Canada at 7.30am today before taking on Fiji at 2.30am tomorrow in their final pool match.
The women’s quarter finals kick off at 7am tomorrow, while the semi finals start at 1.30am on Wednesday. The women’s final is at 5.45am Wednesday.
