Water Authority of Fiji will replace the old pipes along Waimanu Road in Suva next year.
This has been revealed by Authority Chief Executive Officer Opetaia Ravai who says the next major work on Waimanu Road will be a collaboration with Fiji Roads Authority as they will begin resealing works as well.
Ravai has also asked for the public’s understanding as Water Authority of Fiji pipes are mostly laid under roads and the roads are managed by FRA.
He adds that if Water Authority of Fiji has to dig up a road to fix a burst pipe, they will need the approval from the Fiji Roads Authority.
The Water Authority of Fiji is currently working on a long term plan to have a new Viria Water Treatment Plant to boost the supply of water to the Suva-Nausori corridor.
Opetaia Ravai has also revealed that the Water Authority has the capacity to supply 40 mega litres of water on a daily basis and these works will increase the capacity to 80 mega litres.
Ravai says the Authority understands the frustration and the inconvenience that has been caused due to the intermittent supply of water.
He says that with the Water Programme, Water Authority is committed to fixing this issue.
