Sixteen taxis that are based at the old Nausori bus stand will shift their operation to two new sites on a rotational basis starting today.

This follows the meeting between the Nausori taxi operators, Minister for Transport, Parveen Bala and the Nausori Town Council last week.

Speaking on behalf of the 103 taxi operators based at taxi base one and two, Shamal Chand says only a maximum of 10 taxis will operate from the new market site while 6 will be based at the New World Supermarket.

Chand says only a maximum of ten taxis are permitted at the new market site at any given time and similarly six taxis for the New World Supermarket Car park as it is a rotational base.

Concerns had been raised by the Nausori taxi operators based at the old bus stand that they receive less income after the opening of the new bus stand and market last month.
