A number of Toyota vehicle models may have been affected by the Takata Airbag Recall and Asco Motors says these models require faulty air bags to be replaced.

Asco Motors Director Craig Sims says the Takata Airbag Recall has become the largest automotive recall in history, affecting more than 100 million vehicles and nearly 20 automotive manufacturers around the world.

The affected models are Toyota Corolla, Avensis Verso (2000-2004), Toyota Echo, Rav 4 (2002-2005), Toyota Corolla, Avensis Verso, Yaris (2003-2007), Toyota Avensis Verso, Yaris (2007-2008), Toyota Corolla, Yaris, Avensis Verso (2006-2011), Toyota Corolla (2003-2005), Toyota Corolla, Yaris and Rukus (2010-2012) and Toyota Echo, Rav 4 (2002-2003).

Company Secretary, Ronald Kumar says Asco Motors have sold 700 vehicles that have air bag faults and has so far fixed 29 vehicles.

He says Asco Motors has been working with relevant government authorities in addressing the Recall as well as directly contacting customers that may be affected.

Kumar says the replacement will be completed free of charge.

The Recall requires the replacement of defective Takata airbags in the passenger’s front airbag and driver’s front airbag.
