The CEO of the Accident Compensation Commission of Fiji, Parvez Akbar says there is currently nothing on the table to extend the scope of compensation for injuries arising from domestic violence.
Akbar stated this before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs this morning.
He was responding to a question by Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Veena Bhatnagar who told the committee that sometimes there are serious injuries during domestic violence and asked if the ACCF is looking at compensating for injuries.
Akbar says at this stage, the scope of the scheme is for motor vehicle, employment and school accidents and if injuries do not come under these three areas, then there is no compensation.
Akbar also told Bhatnagar that he has taken note of her comments.
