There is still no word when work will start on the black sand mining at the Ba River.
Director of Mineral Resources, Malakai Finau said development work is still underway by the Australian based company Amex Resource Limited.
Hundreds of jobs are expected to be created once the operation begins.
Amex Resource Limited who have been given the mining license will dredge mineral sands from the delta of the Ba River, extract the iron ore content and replace the tails back into the delta.
