There is no tsunami warning for Fiji.
The Mineral Resources Department confirms that a 7.0 magnitude earthquake was recorded 78 kilometres off Luganville, Vanuatu.
The depth of the quake was 10 kilometres.
After analysing all the factors, the Mineral Resources Department said any wave height on the coast in Fiji will only increase by 1 centimetre and increase by 4 centimetres offshore.
From this forecast wave heights, the department stressed that this does not pose any threat to the region particularly for Fiji.
Meanwhile parliament house has been evacuated.
Officials are telling us that the session is postponed.
We are trying to get clarification as there is no threat of a tsunami to the country.
Unnecessary panic was created by some people on facebook this morning.
