There is still no timeframe on when the Naviti Resort in Sigatoka will reopen after the fire yesterday.
The central building which consists of the main lounge, restaurants, shops and offices were destroyed.
As tourist numbers pickup this time of the year, the Naviti Resort management is awaiting the green light from forensic experts before they start cleaning up at the resort.
Executive director Tammie Tam said the cause of fire and the cost of damage is yet to be known as they have not visited the site.
She added there were about 300 guests at the resort yesterday when the fire started who were taken safely to the Warwick and Tokatoka Resorts.
Tam said all the Naviti Resort workers have been absorbed by their sister resorts and they will also be assisting in the cleaning up.
The accommodation blocks on both sides of the burnt building did not sustain any damage.
Meanwhile, National Fire Authority chief executive officer John O’Connor said their investigation team from the Central Division is assisting the fire officers in the West to investigate the matter.
He is expected to get an initial report later today.
