Minister for Education Rosy Akbar says there is no nationwide e-ticketing issue currently faced by students as highlighted by SODELPA MP Ro Teimumu Kepa.
Ro Teimumu claims that some students have not received their bus fare allocation for the term.
Akbar says that this is not the case but in many cases parents leave it to the last minute to top up their cards.
The Minister also highlighted that they still face ongoing challenges where students lose their cards on a daily basis, students whose cards are abused by parents and stolen by other students.
She says that they have also come across students that sell their cards and they have estimated that about 1,000 cards are lost by students on a weekly basis.
Akbar says in the 2018 and 2019 financial year, $25 million dollars was allocated for the transport assistance program.
She says 114,791 students are eligible from primary, secondary and technical colleges.
