No job losses yet-Air Pac
Fiji's international carrier has clarified that they are still in the process of determining what actions needs to be taken to ensure a successful future.

This follows an article in the local dailies which said that the company and the civil Aviation Minister had announced last Wednesday that there would be job losses in the airline.

Air Pacific Managing Director, Dave Pflieger stressed that at the meeting with the Minister Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum, no such announcements were made because the company is still in the process of determining what actions will ensure its success in the future.

During his tour of Air Pacific as the newly appointed Civil Aviation Minister, Sayed Khaiyum revealed that the airline was going through difficult times as they had lost $91 million last year and coupled with competition - a restructure was needed.

Plieger added that there has been no announcement by Air Pacific on the next steps they would take as part of the strategic review of the airline.

He goes on to say that an announcement of any imminent job losses would be made first to Air Pacific employees.
