For the first time in 5 years after the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s consecutively won the Hong Kong 7s, dual Olympic gold medalist, Jerry Tuwai, will not be part of the run-on team.
Tuwai has been part of the Hong Kong 7s since Fiji won the title in 2015 and assisted the national side lift the title for the fifth consecutive time in 2019.
At the beginning of the 2022/2023 World 7s Series, Fiji lost the Hong Kong 7s title to Australia, and they will be hoping to redeem themselves this weekend.
According to Head Coach, Ben Gollings, Tuwai is not part of the travelling team to Hong Kong due to sickness.
Fiji will meet Samoa at 7.28pm Friday in their first match, then they will face Canada at 3.52pm Saturday and play Argentina at 8.37pm Saturday in their final pool match.
The cup quarter-finals will start at 2.02pm Sunday, the semi-finals will begin at 7.29pm Sunday and the final will be held at 12.15am Monday.
