The Ministry of Local Government will be going out to the market again for the third time to recruit a Chief Executive Officer for the National Fire Authority.
Permanent Secretary for Local Government Joshua Wycliffe has told the Public Accounts Committee that they are looking at appointing the best person for the job.
Opposition MP Aseri Radrodro had asked the Permanent Secretary during the Public Accounts Committee session today to give an indication on when the National Fire Authority CEO would be appointed.
The position has been vacant since 2016.
The Acting CEO is Meleta Seniroqa.
Wycliffe says they had interviewed two candidates but there are existing national requirements and they were not able to meet all of those gaps.
The Chief Executive Officer for the National Fire Authority is appointed by the Minister for Local Government.
