The Guangdong Province of the People's Republic of China has handed over the newly redeveloped Suva Civic Center to the Suva City Council.

Minister for Infrastructure Parveen Bala says the memorandum of understanding for the redevelopment of Suva Civic Center was signed between the Guangdong Province and Suva City Council on 10th March 2017.

Bala says the memorandum of understanding has seen Guangdong Province investing an estimated $20 million in the upgrade of the building.

The redevelopment includes upgrading the outlook, provision of new seats, sound system and improved gallery area.

Bala says the Suva Civic Center combines traditional culture and art as well as modern features with world class audio visual technology.

Meanwhile, a memorandum of understanding was also signed today between Guangdong Province and Nasinu Town council for the development of Valelevu Stadium and Sports Ground.

Minister Bala says the development shall see sporting activities promotion in the Nasinu corridor.

He says the development will create wider benefits to the Nasinu area including increased economic reticulation.
