The newly formed Fiji Cabbies Operators Association has welcomed the removal of fuel duty by 20c per litre on fuel import in the Revised 2021-2022 National Budget.

This new body is entirely separate from the Fiji Taxi Association and has 30 members so far.

General Secretary Sanjesh Lal says they would also like to thank the government and welcome the implementation of the Open Taxi Rank System scheduled to begin on the 25th of April.

He says the industry has been left behind with the changing times and is currently exploring options to implement online registration of members and use of mobile wallets like MPasia and My cash for payments.
