The women of Makoi and the nearby areas will now be able to earn a living through their newly built Vocational Centre.
The Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation donated 38 sewing machines worth more than $17,000 and a grant of $100,000 to equip the new Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Center.
30 women will be trained during each session.
A Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry and the Fiji Muslim Women’s League.
The Ministry says the new centre will boost the income generating opportunities for women by enhancing their self- confidence and talents.
The construction of the centre was possible through the assistance from the Islamic Development Bank of Saudi Arabia.
