People of Nasau in Nadi will soon benefit from a new and stronger bridge which is expected to open next week.
The bridge was temporarily closed after a water main burst that scoured the supporting embankment on one end of the bridge.
Fiji Roads Authority Maintenance Works Manager Dale Nicholls said there is a 6 metre steep drop with little to no support to the road and is the reason for the bridge closure.
Nicholls said the repair work will include extending the existing bridge beams into a new concrete pad by 4 metres from the current existing end of the bridge.
