A new online commercial business called ‘Pacific People’ has been launched which will offer people in the country and the region the recognition for senior level jobs in various sectors.
Company Director and Chair of Australian Volunteers International, Kathleen Townsend says that a lot of jobs in the Pacific are being filled up with expatriates and those that come in for short term assignments and are not here for the long term.
Townsend says that while it is important to get candidates for high level jobs from other places it is equally important to have local knowledge.
Townsend says that they have been talking to CEO’s and Human Resources Directors of different organisations and they have shown interest in the initiative as it will take the recruitment burden off them.
The role of Pacific People is to collect online data of applicants and match them to suitable roles advertised online.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Civil Service Bernadette Welch has welcomed the new business and says that it will make it a lot more easier for organisations to find people.
