15 youths have been announced as the new members of the Fiji Youth Council.
Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Parveen Bala says as youth leaders they must commit to ensuring that services rendered addresses the need of youth.
Bala says members of the Fiji Youth Council must also participate in national activities that highlight youth development and their aspirations.
He says they are to facilitate links between services initiated by the government and those of other stakeholders.
Bala says the main responsibility of the Fiji Youth Council is to actively build the capacity of every youth structure in Fiji.
He says these appointments have been made with a lot of thought and with a view to having on board youth leaders who can make a difference.
Bala adds their Ministry is committed to listening and working with this newly appointed members in identifying youth issues and contributing to national youth solutions.
He says that as a youth representatives they must always remain apolitical.
Bala also says they must seize the opportunities of democracy and take responsibility for all youths regardless of ethnicity, religion or creed.
