The crematorium is being built by the Raralevu Cemetary

Thousands of people living in Nausori will soon be able to access the services of a new gas crematorium in Raralevu as construction works have already started.

The crematorium which will cost $900,000, is being built by the Raralevu Cemetery Committee and is fully funded from donations by the public.

Committee Project Manager Ajay Prasad says people of Nausori and Suva as well from overseas have donated towards the project.

Prasad says they aim to have the crematorium, which will be able to cater three to four funeral services a day, fully operational by the end of June.

He says the crematorium will have three crematories which have already been ordered at the total cost of $150,000.

The project manager says the crematories have already been ordered from India and technicians will be coming to install them.

Prasad says the services of the crematorium will cost between $500 to $600 and will include the use of the crematory, 400 seats, internet services, lights, sound systems, television and the car park.
