New Fijian Elections Office Voter Services Centre opened in Savusavu.

New Fijian Elections Office Voter Services Centres have been opened in Savusavu and Labasa.

While opening the two offices in the Northern Division this morning, Electoral Commission Chairman Suresh Chandra says the Fijian Elections Office has divided the country into administration areas to allow for more effective management of logistics surrounding elections.

He says that the Commission had to deal with the constitutional requirements to determine the total number of seats for the next General Election.

He stresses that they are in the process of implementing 19 recommendations from the Multi‑National Observer Group and they had only made 38 recommendations.

The Chairman adds that the Commission believes that the recommendations which they have adopted or adapted into the electoral framework are good for the system.

Chandra adds that the Electoral Commission has noted that preparations for the 2018 General Elections are on track and with the opening of these new offices all their customers will be provided the best customer services in every election process.
