A new tool to understand the changing climate system in Fiji and to provide better information to the people has been launched in Nadi this morning.
While launching the CLIDE Database and the Climate Change Report system, the Deputy Secretary of Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Malakai Tadulala highlighted that the CLIDE system will help the Meteorological Services to manage their current and historical weather data more effectively now and in the future.
He added the three year climate change science research program has showed clear evidence that temperatures in the region has increased and the sea level has risen.
Tadulala said that the research also shows that in the future, the climate is likely to become hotter and wetter with increases in average temperature also resulting in an increase in the numbers of hotter days and warmer nights.
