The Government has clarified that Saturday 1st of January 2011 is not a public holiday.
Director Information, Setaita Natai said the gazetted public holiday for New Year falls on Monday 3rd of January.
After numerous queries were raised with Fijivillage on whether businesses will be closed, Natai said as far as they are concerned business will be normal this Saturday.
