The 60 passenger boat which was launched last week for the Yasawas will make its first trip this Saturday.
Bouwaqa Development Committee chairman Sitiveni Raturala says villagers in northern Yasawa now have the ease of travelling as the vessel will service routes to four villages in the Yasawa Group.
Raturala says the vessel had undergone routine checks with the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji.
He says despite it being an old vessel, the boat is seaworthy.
The $300,000 vessel was officially handed over by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to the Yavusa o Bouwaqa of Teci Village at the Lautoka wharf.
