The new access road connecting Wainibuku to Princes Road has brought smiles to residents of Vunidogo Settlement in Wainibuku, Davuilevu Housing and Nakasi.
Minister for Public Works and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau says the project aims to alleviate congestion on the main Kings Road.
He says the alternative route has been welcomed by local residents and businesses, who regularly face traffic delays on the busy Kings Road corridor.
He adds that the new access road, strategically planned to bypass high-traffic areas, is expected to reduce travel time for commuters between Suva and Nausori.
According to the Minister and the PWD officials, the project will include measures to ensure durability and safety, such as proper drainage systems, signage and safety barriers.
He says once completed, the Wainibuku-Princes Road connection is anticipated to provide a long-term solution to traffic issues, benefiting daily commuters and nearby residents alike.
