The new United States of America Embassy will continue to seek to engage all elements of society to promote the restoration of a democratic Fiji.
These are the words of US Ambassador Steve McGann while officially opening the new US Embassy at Princes Road in Tamavua this morning.
McGann said the new Embassy compound has become a symbol of their presence and dedication in the Pacific island region since it broke ground on June 9th 2007.
He said the Embassy will continue to serve US interests in Fiji, Kiribati, Tonga, Nauru and Tuvalu and will have consular responsibilities for New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Wallis and Futuna.
McaGann revealed that the US Embassy Suva will become the regional headquarters for Peace Corps programs in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and Vanuatu.
