New Speaker of Parliament to be elected today

The new Speaker of Parliament will be elected today.

The election of the new Speaker will be first item on the agenda.

This comes after the passing away of the late Speaker Dr Jiko Luveni in December last year.

The Leader of the Government in Parliament will move the motion for the election of the Speaker as this position became vacant after the passing of Dr Luveni.

Several Annual Reports will also be tabled in parliament which include the Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit 2017 Annual Report, Fiji National Provident Fund Annual Report 2018, the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited Annual Report 2017, the Pacific Fishing Company PTE Limited Annual Report 2017 and others.

Questions, Ministerial Statements and consideration of Bills are also in today’s agenda.
