A new Legal Aid Commission office has been officially opened in the most populated municipality in the country, Nasinu.
Chairman of the Legal Aid Commission, Sharvada Sharma said this will ensure that people who qualify for legal aid do not have to go far to get free legal services.
Sharma said the opening of the office by the Prime Minister was necessary.
He said this is the 9th office of the Legal Aid Commission as they embark to provide free legal services to more Fijians.
Legal Aid Commission offices are also ready to open in Savusavu, Tavua and Korovou.
Sharma said they also intend to open offices in Levuka, Rotuma, Taveuni and Kadavu this year. Every office will have qualified lawyers and relevant counselling and support staff.
