A new 20,000-litre bulk water carrier fire truck worth $1 million was handed over to the National Fire Authority today.
The truck was provided through the Government’s Assistance grant.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Minister for Industry, Trade, and Tourism Premila Kumar says it is the first truck which has a capacity of 20,000 litres in the country.
She says the truck will help the NFA be more efficient when putting out fire cases given its capacity and improved features.
Kumar also used a recent fire at a garment factory in Nadi as an example where NFA had to borrow a fire truck from Airports Fiji Limited to control the fire due to trucks not having enough water capacity.
She also thanked the fire officers for their services and dedication towards the country.
