Naziah Ali Krishna has become the first woman to be elected as the Fiji Football West Vice President during the 86th Fiji FA Ordinary Congress in Labasa.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Krishna says she is happy to get the support of all the districts as no one had opposed her and this is a testament that women can also be part of the leadership structure for football.
She says having served on the board for the last 5 years, this now means that she will be able to do a little more for women’s football.
Krishna, who is also the manager of the national women’s team, says she wants to ensure that every girl who wants to play football does not feel that they cannot play and she says she wants football to be truly accessible to everyone, regardless of whether they are in town, in a rural or an urban area.
She says when she was initially elected to the board, there was opposition mainly from the public but she has worked hard and proven herself.
Krishna says the districts have faith in her and believe she can do the job.
She adds they want each district to have their club football competitions to get better players for inter-district and international tournaments.
