182 villagers from Nayarabale in the North will now have access to clean tap water and hydro solar home systems.

This is after Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama opened the new Ecological Purification System and Solar Home system.

Village Headman Lote Turaga says it was the happiest day of their lives when the projects was opened as before they did not have clean drinking water and there was limited electricity.

He says there was a generator but they were getting electricity only for 4 hours which was not enough for their students.

While opening the projects Bainimarama says now it is a major milestone project for the village and adds the water purification project will prevent water borne disease.

The total cost of water purification project was $38,000 while the cost for Hydro solar home systems was $161,293.
