Villagers of Nawaka Nadi are in high spirit this morning as they will be performing the traditional farewell ceremony for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the Nadi International Airport.
The traditional ceremony that is scheduled to begin around 11am today is significant for the people of Nawaka as one of their very own, the Late Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba will be honoured with a statue for his bravery and service towards the crown, Fiji and Britain as a whole.
52 year old, Isaia Dere who is the son of the late Fijian Hero Sergeant Labalaba will also be present at the farewell and unveiling ceremony this morning.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will today pay tribute to the Fijian hero who was in the British special forces as part of their final official engagement in Fiji before travelling to Tonga.
The statue will be erected at the Nadi International Airport.
