The people of Navua will no longer need to travel to Davuilevu Housing or Raralevu to cremate their loved ones at a gas crematorium, as the community has united to construct the Raiwaqa-Navua Crematorium.

Crematorium Committee Treasurer, Neel Singh, says they are currently in the preliminary stage, having begun drainage work on the site and the construction of retaining walls.

He says they have a budget of about $650,000 and have already spent over $10,000 on groundwork.

Singh says the committee plans to keep the crematorium pricing reasonable.

He is appealing for assistance to help complete the project within the next year and a half, provided all goes according to plan.

Those wishing to assist the community can deposit funds into the BSP account "Raiwaqa (Navua) Crematorium" under account number 86777260. The SWIFT code for overseas donors is BOSPFJFJ.
