The Digicel national football team is aware of the importance of their first game against Northern Marianas as they have not won a gold at the Pacific Games since 2003.
Team manager Kartik Reddy says the team is focused on the task ahead and to execute their game plan.
Reddy says their first training session went well on Wednesday and they have managed to settle in the Solomon Islands.
He further says the team has responded well to the training sessions and have a fully fit squad available for the first lineup selection.
The men’s team last won gold at the 2003 Pacific Games held in Fiji where they beat New Caledonia two nil while the women’s team has never won a gold medal.
Fiji men’s team will face Northern Marianas this Saturday at 8pm while the Digicel Kulas play Vanuatu on Tuesday at 4pm.
