The National Sports Commission has been given a grant of $USD100,000 to create, develop, monitor and assess inclusiveness in physical activities and sport with learners of disabilities around Fiji.
This grant was supported by the United Nations office of Sports Development and Peace funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
Through the grant, a week long workshop is being held to provide teachers, parents and care givers with the tools and teaching aids to ensure students with disabilities and special needs get the proper help they need.
Commission Chairman Peter Mazey says more work still needs to be done to ensure inclusiveness in physical activities and sport with learners of disabilities.
The workshop has 30 participants.
