The Fiji Airways men’s and women’s 7s teams are now on the third day of their 7-day isolation as both sides aim to play in the Seville 7s next week.
Both teams were supposed to fly out to Spain on Saturday for the Malaga 7s however they could not travel after some players and management tested positive for COVID-19.
FRU CEO John O’Connor says they are working with the Ministry of Health to ensure compliance with the protocols and having the required testing to ensure everyone is cleared so they can return to train safely with the intention of participating in the Seville 7s next week.
O’Connor says they are working very closely with the hosts in Spain in terms of rescheduling the flights and compliance with the tournament requirements prior to departure.
The Malaga 7s will kick off in Spain on Friday with South Africa leading the World 7s Series after back to back tournament wins in Dubai last year.
