One main goal that Swire Shipping Fijian Drua prop Livai Natave has set for himself this year is to get fitter and faster for the position that he is playing.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Natave says after last season, he has managed to get a taste of what it’s like playing in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition and he is working harder this year.
He says he is looking to better himself this year as there is a lot of competition in the front rows, especially with the experienced players.
The 24-year-old further the major setback he faced of not being selected into the first Fijian Drua squad that was announced in 2022 after being in the Fiji Rugby Union High Performance Unit for 4 years.
Natave says when he received the bad news that he was not selected for the Drua that year, it changed his perspective and his approach to training and vowed to get better so he could earn himself a spot in the team last year.
Natave made his Super Rugby Pacific debut against the New South Wales Waratahs last year in March.
The Drua will kick off their 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific campaign against the Blues on the 24th of next month in Auckland.
