In a move to improve public safety and curb illegal littering the Nasinu Town Council has announced they will be installing 40 new surveillance cameras at litter hotspots across the municipality.
Nasinu Special Administrator Chair, Felix Magnus says in addition, the Council will install 135 solar-powered lights in alleys and dark spots to increase visibility and promote community safety.
Magnus says the new surveillance systems and solar lights are expected to be fully operational by mid-February 2025.
He says the surveillance cameras will be strategically placed in areas identified as litter hotspots to deter illegal waste dumping and catch offenders in the act.
The Chair says this initiative is part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness and ensure compliance with Nasinu’s environmental bylaws.
He says these cameras will help them monitor high-risk areas more effectively and hold those responsible for illegal dumping accountable.
This initiative is about protecting our environment and keeping Nasinu clean for everyone.
Magnus says the installation of the 135 solar lights will address safety concerns in poorly lit areas, including alleys, parks, and residential walkways.
He says the solar-powered lights not only enhance safety but also support the Council’s commitment to sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions.
The Chair says lighting up dark spots across Nasinu will reduce crime and create a safer environment for residents.
He says they are committed to making Nasinu a cleaner, safer, and more livable community.
Magnus adds the Council urges residents to report any incidents of illegal dumping and to take pride in keeping Nasinu clean.
