Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has urged students of Nasinu Secondary School that they have the potential to become leaders in politics, business and civil society like the Nasinu alumni.

While presenting his speech at the 35th Anniversary celebrations of Nasinu Secondary, Bainimarama says many of the students from the school have travelled far from home in the pursuit of a better education and a better life.

Bainimarama says the student roll stands at 895, with 49 teachers and 17 support staff.

He adds since 1996 the school has also hosted students from other Pacific Islands and this year they have 34 Pacific Islands students of which 21 are from Nauru, nine from Tuvalu, one from Papua New Guinea and three from Vanuatu.

Bainimarama says in last year’s Fiji Seventh Form Examination, the student pass rate was a highly commendable 87%.

He adds the achievement of any school are measured by the quality of its graduates and they include two Deputy Police Commissioners Isikeli Vuniwaqa and Rusiate Tudravu, Permanent Secretary of Defence and Immigration Osea Cawaru and the Commissioner Western Manasa Tagicakibau to name a few.
