Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator, Shamima Ali says they continue to condemn the actions of the Fiji Rugby Union and the Fiji Corrections Services after seeing Amenoni Nasilasila at the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series at Lawaqa Park today.
In a statement released today, Ali says the Corrections Commissioner and Fiji Rugby should show more responsibility in ending violence against women and girls which is a Government priority.
She adds that they wrote to the FRU in July 2020 and the Corrections Service in April this year and there has been no response to date.
Ali says they have used sports as a tool to help end violence against women and girls. They have conducted awareness sessions and training with players and officials in close partnership with FNRL and Suva Volleyball and in the past with FRU.
She says they will not support tournaments that allows convicted rapists to participate before they have served their time.
