Fijian-born Chiefs winger Emoni Narawa has been eyed by All Blacks coach Ian Foster for an All Blacks call-up as they build towards the June test and the Rugby World Cup later this year.
After the Chiefs’ hard-fought win over the Crusaders last week, Foster insisted that Narawa and Chiefs’ teammate Shaun Stevenson are in the hunt for the All Blacks jersey.
He says the selectors are interested in the outside back and he has mentioned the two players himself.
Foster says Narawa and Stevenson deserve a call-up because they are putting their hands up.
The coach says the two players have taken their opportunity, they’re playing regularly well and doing a really good job for their franchise and making the selectors have a look at that.
The Chiefs will be playing the Highlanders at 7.05pm Friday.
Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will take on the Hurricanes at 2.05pm Saturday.
In other games this week, the Crusaders will meet the Force at 4.35pm Saturday, the Blues will play Moana Pasifika at 7.05pm Saturday, the Reds will take on the Waratahs at 9.35pm Saturday and the Rebels will meet the Brumbies at 4.35pm Sunday.
