Naraiyawa Women’s Club introduces Starlink to support education and community connectivity
The villagers of Naraiyawa in Namosi no longer need to travel to Suva to access the internet or do school projects, as they can now do so from their homes through Starlink.
The introduction of Starlink was facilitated by the Naraiyawa Women’s Club to assist them in generating income and to support the club financially.
While speaking to fijivillage News, club representative Vasita Ranadi says their focus is also on supporting their children’s education by providing internet access.
Ranadi says previously, students had to travel to Suva to complete their projects, which could cost around $50.
She says internet access will benefit not only students but also other community members who have relatives and family living abroad or in urban areas, allowing them to stay connected through social media.
Ranadi is encouraging other clubs in Fiji to develop innovative ideas that can bring positive change to their communities.
