Namosi gold and copper project currently on hold

The Namosi gold and copper project is currently on hold.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama while launching the Green Growth Framework says the project is on hold because they have yet to be satisfied that the necessary environmental protections can be met.

Bainimarama says they have put the preservation of the environment first.

Namosi Joint Venture Country Manager Greg Morris says they are undertaking the environmental impact assessment work which involves doing thorough investigations.

Morris adds they have not put a time frame on when they would present the report.
