The trial of Sailosi Naivalurua who is accused of killing a 40-year-old man in Colo-i-Suva in April this year will take place from 18th to 22nd January next year.
Naivalurua who is charged with one count of murder allegedly struck the man with a cane knife several times following a heated argument on 21st April this year.
It was heard in court that Naivalurua and the man worked together and had a heated confrontation over Naivalurua's mobile phone.
During that heated confrontation, Naivalurua allegedly got hold of a cane knife and chopped off one of the man's hands.
It was also heard in court that the victim also had multiple lacerations on his body and passed away at the CWM Hospital due to excessive blood loss.
The prosecution is expected to call 10 witnesses for the trial next year.
Naivalurua is also expected to take the stand.
The case has been adjourned for mention to 5th October 2020.
