14 villages in Naitasiri will soon benefit from a new bakery shop which will open in Gusuisavu village.
Integrated Human Resources Development Programme Divisional Manager Central Aslam Khan said this project was funded by the Commissioner Central’s office and it will be the first bakery to be constructed in Naitasiri.
Khan said the bakery is among the government’s development plans to improve livelihoods in rural areas and help create employment opportunities for villagers.
He said the total cost of this project is $90,270 and will be operated by Lovia Cooperative which has close to 80 members.
He added the villagers went through baking and pastry making training which was conducted by the Pacifika Institute of Tourism.
Khan said they are waiting for the approval from the Ministry of Health before they operate.
The bakery is expected to be fully operational in October.
