Nahehevia Valley 7s set for thrilling weekend of rugby

It will be an electrifying clash at the Fiji Bitter Nahehevia Valley 7s this weekend as top grassroots teams from the Western Division take on 7s powerhouse teams like Viti Roofing Devo Babas, Post Shop Tabadamu, Wardens Gold, Ratu Filise, and TEMC Warrior, all battling for the $8,000 prize money at Lawaqa Park.

A total of 32 teams have confirmed their spot in the main cup competition, while 16 youth teams will compete in the U20 grade and 8 teams will battle in the women’s category.

The prize-money for the U20 grade is $2,000, while the winner in the women’s division will take home $1,500.

In the main cup competition will see Lomawai, Naikoro Young Boys, Westfield Tigers, Determination Brothers, Viwa Rugby, Yasawa Mantas, Vunimono Eels, Brothers Rugby, Yaro Chiefs, Nahehevia Patriots, Goldcoast Senibiau, Western Exile, Boutolu Babas, SR Ubuntu, Flametree Coloisuva and Waimanu.

Also, the Restoration Academy, Tuva, Nawaka Black, Nasikawa Blues, Vuna Brothers, Ravoravo, Navy, Nakavu, Spearhead Yalovata, Ellington Koromatovo Warrior and Bula Brothers.

In the U18 grade will see Southland Broncos, Loloma Care Malomalo, PSM Aflame Black and Red, Tuva, Coral Coast, Southland Brumbies, Noinabua, Nahehevia, Determination Brothers, Goldcoast Senibiau, Nawaka, Village Boys, Caginitoba, Tubarua Highlands and Yaro.

Tournament coordinator Marika Kurisese told fijivillage Sports that this will be a great opportunity for grassroots teams from the Western Division to step up.

The Nahehevia Valley 7s will be held on Friday and Saturday at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
