The story of Fiji Airways Men’s 7s player Vuiviawa Naduvalo is an inspiring one for any boy dreaming of wearing the national 7s jersey.
Naduvalo says wearing the white jersey has always been his dream since growing up in Semo Village in Nadroga.
He says he used to travel around with the village rugby team to their club games as a waterboy but his playing days started when he joined the Tuva Under 19 rugby team for the Coral Coast 7s in 2017.
The 25-year-old says his soccer skills which he acquired during his secondary school days have been very helpful with his rugby because there is a lot of running in football.
He adds he never gave up his dream of becoming a national 7s player, even though his name was not included in the Dubai and Spain 7s tournaments.
Naduvalo says he was full of joy when he was named for the Vancouver and Singapore 7s tournaments and it was also his first trip overseas.
The 25-year-old made headlines in his first World 7s Series tournament in Singapore where he was named the DHL Impact Player and also was the top try scorer, scoring a total of 10 tries in 6 games.
Naduvalo is part of the Fiji Men’s 7s training squad for the upcoming tournament in Toulouse that will be held from the 20th to the 22nd of this month.
