Naduri, the chiefly village of Macuata, along with the 105 villages in the province are preparing for the burial of their paramount chief Ratu Aisea Katonivere.
The Methodist Church in Naduri has been decorated with masi kuvui and is now closed until the day of the funeral service.
Today the women of the village will begin to wear black as they mark the start of the mourning period.
The reguregu delegation of traditional leaders and State officials is expected to begin on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who is currently in the US will also attend the funeral.
Meanwhile, the chiefly household has confirmed that the late chief’s body is at the Labasa hospital mortuary and is being guarded by the traditional warriors.
The late Ratu Aisea Katonivere is survived by his wife Sera Katonivere along with their 5 children.
His eldest daughter Adi Litia Monomono arrived in Naduri from New Zealand yesterday.
