Defending Champions Nadi as well as Sabeto have been disqualified for the reminder of the 65th Tebara Halal Meats Muslim IDC with immediate effect for match manipulation.
The Fiji Muslim Sports Association says following the initial decision that was made with the circumstances surrounding it, the result of the game, was declared null and void as both teams were penalised, and the decision on which team would progress was initially determined via a coin toss.
They say in light of new information and after further deliberation on the matter in consultation with the Fiji Muslim League, and in accordance with Clause 18.15 of the FMSA Bylaws, the FMSA Consultative and Disciplinary Committee has determined that both teams — Nadi and Sabeto — have breached the fundamental principles of integrity, fair play, and sportsmanship as outlined in the FMSA Code of Conduct.
The Association says an Independent Investigation Committee will now be instituted to thoroughly investigate the match in question.
They say the committee will aim to uncover the full extent of any unsporting conduct and identify individuals who may have acted against the spirit of the game.
The Association say they remain firmly committed to preserving the credibility and integrity of its tournaments and any team or individual found guilty following this investigation will face appropriate sanctions, which may include long-term suspensions from future Association events.
