Nadi River level expected to rise during high tide

The Divisional Planning Officer West is urging people residing near the rivers to move to high ground or to an evacuation centre as the Nadi River level is expected to rise during the high tide at 5.19pm this afternoon.

Sitiveni Tavaga said they want the people to safe at the height of the flooding.

He added the 774 people are sheltering at the 10 evacuation centres in Ba.
  
A resident from Nadavi, Ba, said four families whose houses were damaged in Tropical Cyclone Winston have moved to take shelter at another resident’s place before nightfall.

Meanwhile, 554 people are taking shelter at six evacuation centres in Tavua.

There are 39 people at Tagitagi Sangam Primary School, 77 people at the Tavualevu Community Hall, 144 people at the Tavua Primary School, 143 people at the Tavua District Primary School, 133 people at the Tavua District Secondary School while 18 people are at the Waikona Community Hall.
