Nadi Bay makes great start

The Nadi Bay Canoe club has made an impressive start at the Fiji Outrigger International which continues this morning at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi.

Nadi Bay took out first place in the Under 19 mens V One marathon defeating New Zealand based Tu Tangi Ora while Tafaga club from Fiji finished third.

Nadi Bay also won the U19 Girls V One marathon while teams from Tu Tangi Ora took second and third place.

The V one open mens marathon is currently underway in perfect sunny conditions at Wailoaloa beach which has attracted a large gathering of spectators.

There are a total of eight local clubs taking part along with Savusavu Nakama Bay Canoe Club taking part for the first time.

The 2011 Fiji Outrigger International is said to be the biggest tournament in its 14 year history with teams from Australia, USA and New Zealand taking part.
